  1. North Wildwood - Regarding the Marina Bay Towers situation: This place has been a disgrace from day one. From the tiles falling off the front of the building, to the broken railings on the stairways, and the unfinished planters in front to the constant pile of broken glass where the trash dumpster sits. Add to that the vacant commercial first floor which appears to have become a warehouse for junk. This property is the biggest eyesore in N. Wildwood. No consideration should ever be given to converting the existing units to condos for sale.

  2. North Wildwood - Why should the taxpayers of North Wildwood incur the cost of maintaining the Catholic school grounds? The DPW doesn't maintain the grounds at Margaret Mace, they outsource it. What happened to separation of church and state? Parishioners contribute enough without tapping into our property taxes to pay for maintenance to their tax exempt properties.

  3. Lower Township - To the person who stated the "re-branding" of Lower Township is more about economic development than tourism: Don't the two go hand in hand? The key economic draw in Cape May County is tourism.

  4. Stone Harbor - There's still no progress on the new library. The mayor and council are ineffective in negotiating with the county. When will we learn and pull out of the county system?

  5. Whitesboro - Thank you to 'Butch' Hamer for a wonderful Christmas party for the children Dec. 13. All of the children getting coats and toys was great! Thank you for helping out the families in our community. One day I will be able to give back.

  6. Avalon - To the person who says that it is better to have side yard pick-up by the Borough of Avalon employees: I did that job 14 years ago, and it is impossible to have side yard pick-up. Side yard pick-up takes way too long and way too much over-time in the summer months, which adds up to big money. Those men work hard doing that job in the freezing cold and summer heat!

  7. North Wildwood - Instead of taxpayers footing the bill for addiction rehab, why don't the family and friends of the addict pay for their rehab? Same thing for girls who are pregnant. Instead of welfare, hold the fathers responsible and let family and friends get second and third jobs to pay to raise the child. Why should I work a second job to pay a stranger's mistakes? In both of these instances, these people created their own circumstances. This way, when the girl gets pregnant again or the addict relapses, it will be their own family who pays.

  8. Cape May Point - Whatever happened to the 'Free Meal Center?' A lot of money and equipment was donated to this cause. There was always a benefactor who was supposed to come up with money "next month" to make it work, but somehow never came through. Has a criminal investigation ever been conducted to see if fraud or theft by deception charges are warranted? Something doesn't smell right and I'm sure many people who donated feel deceived.

  9. Middle Township - N.J. laws need to be changed to make it easier for public schools to expel students. After a certain number of suspensions and detentions, schools need to be able to get rid of the students who have chronic behavior problems. A small percentage of students should not be allowed to ruin the education of the other students. Teachers and administrators shouldn't have to put up with defiant, disrespectful and disruptive students. If N.J. schools started kicking the troublemakers out, other students would realize that they either change their ways or face the same fate.

  10. Wildwood - A full page was devoted to elicit sympathy for addicts in the Dec. 17 Herald. How about equal reporting on the victims of these addicts? I've had my front door kicked in and new TV stolen. Tools were stolen from my work truck. My porch furniture and everything in my yard has a chain around it. My wife and child are afraid, even with a dog in the house. How about asking these addicts how much they steal in a week? Ask stores in Rio Grande what theft costs them? When these addicts go before a judge and get treatment instead of jail, they're free to go right back to stealing and drugging.
