  1. Wildwood Crest - How encouraging to see so many New York license plates on visitors' cars this summer. Finally, we are attracting tourists with deeper pockets, who don't come down just for a day to spend time on our free beach. Hopefully, our tourist officials are taking notice of this and will direct more of their budget dollars to promote the Wildwoods in the New York area.

  2. Clermont - To the spouter from Dennis who thought the Republicans wasted $20,000 on a twp. administrator: The Democrats spent over $100,000 each year on a twp. administrator, wasted $700 a month and close to $10,000 a year for board of health meetings lasting two minutes long; that is $50 a minute. Talk about wasting money.

  3. Dennisville - I think it's a great idea to update the rec. facility and sports they offer. Having parking and bathrooms closer to the fields would be convenient for us parents with multiple kids and the grandparents who cannot get around very well. By adding sports like lacrosse, winter hockey and fall ball with some summer clinics would increase the number of kids participating in rec. sports. It would also keep money in our township instead of giving it to the neighboring ones.

  4. Wildwood - We bought a home in 2006 when the prices were still high. After two successful appeals on our taxes, we thought the tax rate was just about right, of course, our home decreased in value by $90,000. Imagine our surprise with the new assessment when our taxes increased by 25 percent! I think that the mayor and city hall wants the money back to the 2006 levels, yet it is just not right. Maybe beach tags are the answer.

  5. Lower Township - To the Lower Twp. spouter who "doesn't understand" why residents are complaining of higher taxes when his/her taxes actually went down: The town budget went up, not down. So, if your taxes went down, many others went up. Be happy. This is not so for the rest of the town.

  6. Cape May - If Obama thinks he needs $3.8 billion to repair his "immigration reform" debacle, deduct it from the aid checks we send to those countries who are dumping their problems on our borders. We should have no fiscal responsibility for their lack of courage, or competence, or both.

  7. Sea Isle City - Council, the lot where the amusement park was that is now fenced off and covered with shells, smells like a septic tank has run over. Is there something that could be sprayed on it to relieve the stench? Also, one of the ladders on the municipal boat ramp has been seriously damaged and is a safety hazard, and another ladder has some damage too. This is ripe for a lawsuit. I don't want to see anything bad happen there. It needs attention as soon as possible.

  9. Cape May / Philadelphia - As a police officer, I was frightened watching a Cape May city officer driving across the Washington Street Mall crosswalk area via Ocean Street to an emergency July 29 around 2:30 p.m. The officer had the vehicle's emergency lights and sirens activated, but did not brake at all while traveling at a high rate of speed through that area. There was a large crowd of pedestrians and bicyclists in and around the intersection at the time. There was also a trolley pulled to the shoulder, blocking the view of pedestrians waiting to cross. No emergency is worth killing someone to get to.

  10. Wildwood Crest - To residents of Wildwood Crest: The street parking spots by your house do not belong to you. It is a public street. Maybe you should've built yourself a driveway or a larger apron instead of creating a huge house on a tiny lot, and then you and your family would have more private parking spots.
