  1. Wildwood - To a Wildwood spouter who spoke in reference to the accused Pa. cop killer: You said, "The media, gleefully, was quick to define him as a savage killer, before there was even a psychological evaluation," but in your spout, you automatically assumed that the bruises on his face were from a police beating, without finding out the facts. He spent over a month on the run, often in the woods, at night. I don't suppose that might have bruised his face? Also, mental illness is not a defense unless the defendant can't tell right from wrong.

  2. Avalon - Here are the average number of jobs created per year in office, based on Department of Labor statistics for the total number of jobs created during the administrations of Carter: 2,585,000; Reagan: 2,000,000; George H.W. Bush: 648,000; Clinton: 2,800,000; George W. Bush: 140,000; Obama: 864,000. Note that job creation was greater under Democrats Carter and Clinton, than under the three Republican administrations, and in spite of unconscionable obstructionism by congressional Republicans, more jobs have been created per year under Obama than under either Bush administration.

  3. Wildwood Crest - The spout about our military always "fighting for our freedom," disregards the thousands of American war deaths in Vietnam and Korea, only to see both North Korea and Vietnam, to this day, with Communist governments. No government should sacrifice its precious youths in any foreign fighting that does not directly affect its national interest.

  4. Erma - Has anyone heard any dollar figures of what all those daily Iraq bombing missions are costing us taxpayers? Fox is reporting the bombings are ineffective against stopping the radicals; so are any of the Pentagon brass re-evaluating the air strikes, or just continuing to waste our hard-earned tax dollars, which could be put to much better use fixing potholes here in America?

  5. Seaville - Those of us who do not live in Avalon are puzzled by all the fuss and spouts about another proposed hotel. With all the motels and hotels already there, is there really that much of an issue with one more? It's a Jersey tourist town and visitors want new hotels.

  6. Wildwood - Watching the battered face of the captured, suspected Pocono cop killer, one has to remember we are a nation of strict rules when handling prisoners, even those accused of a heinous crime. Also, we all know someone with mental health issues, a possible factor in this case. The media, gleefully, was quick to define him as a savage killer, before there was even a psychological evaluation.

  7. Avalon - I noticed that there must be some type of concerted effort to post thumbs up or down for the spouts for or against the Avalon boutique hotel proposal. I can understand that sort of zealous behavior from the mostly elderly homeowners who ardently oppose the project, but I find it kind of puzzling coming from the developers and their supporters, who are already millionaires. In the end, I suspect that money will trump public opinion, as it has, not just in Avalon, but in all shore communities for years now.

  8. Stone Harbor - Let's be honest; lots of us veterans really don't do anything to celebrate Veterans Day, other than enjoy a day off work, but the fact that someone has dedicated a holiday to acknowledge veterans is a nice thing. It was originally called Armistice Day, in celebration of the Nov. 11, 1918 end of WWI. I don't blame anyone for wanting a four day Christmas break, but the fact that Veterans Day was a holiday to trade off for the Stone Harbor DPW Christmas break, shows a disregard for veterans. There were lots of other ways the borough could have worked that out.

  9. Wildwood - Wildwood does not need beach bars. We need wooden walkways on the beach, and our current police staff needs to do more policing on the streets.

  10. North Wildwood - Who changed the Halloween parade route in the Wildwoods? My grandchildren and dogs were not happy! They loved sitting on my front porch watching it go by our home.
