  1. Upper Township - The new teacher evaluation methods being used by local schools are just weapons designed to be used to fire teachers that are higher paid. The evaluations are nonsense. It's just a 'got you' game; they look for any ridiculous, little thing to criticize. All teacher evaluations are only opinions of administrators that managed to get themselves out of the classroom as fast as they could. It's no wonder why teacher morale is at an all-time low!

  2. Stone Harbor - Located on Seven Mile Island is one of the finest libraries in the country; rated five stars year after year, yet we choose to build a county library which will never compare to Avalon's just to take prime real estate from our community, which could be used for the police station location, and waste tax dollars in doing so. It doesn't add up.

  3. Sea Isle City - While working at the new municipal building in Sea Isle City one morning, I was pulled over by a police officer because I mistakenly went down a one-way street. I explained to the officer that I was working at the new building and was not familiar with the area. I asked him for a break, which I did not get. Things must really be bad because I believe a break could have been in order. This officer was not very pleasant, and I believe this is why people have a problem with police. I did not create any traffic hazards and no one was harmed.

  4. Stone Harbor - I agree with the choo-choo spouter. The new library looks like a train station. This is the best that they could do? Maybe the train tracks are still underneath the island on Second Avenue, and I bet this council screws this up again by starting construction in July and August. After seven years of nonsense and incompetence, 'what difference does it make?' The answer is none. Start in Sept. It will be 2017 before it's done anyway. Then we can start washing the costly windows.

  5. Swainton - I want to give a huge thanks to the company that does our snow removal, especially to the two gentlemen with the snow blowers. I am an elderly woman, and the one tall man has seen me shoveling out my car, and made it a point to stop what he was doing and rush over and do it for me. God bless you and thanks for proving there are still kind-hearted people out there. Keep up the good job!

  6. Wildwood - North Wildwood fire does not answer all calls with the "ladder truck." The ladder truck is run by the volunteers. The first truck out has a smaller aerial, a pump and other equipment, and is perfect for a small-staffed department. Let's put it all to bed. The "paid" and volunteers work very well together. The pot is being stirred by rumors and exaggerations. All are trying to provide the best possible service with pride to the community, and are succeeding quite well. Both are proud of their service.

  7. Wildwood - The volunteer shortage is not new, and is a fact all over our country. Another fact; paid personnel are not all making $100,000. Few are. Locally, the media sought the story, in part due to a sign posted at a volunteer station seeking members. The handful of on-duty firemen cannot perform without volunteers. Believe what you will, but first, make the attempt to educate yourself. Next, submit your application and make a difference, if you have what it takes.

  8. Sea Isle City - I want to say thank you to the Sea Isle City Public Works for their cleaning of our streets during all the recent snowstorms. A job well done.

  9. Court House - There should be no cap on the number of liquor licenses in the county. The licenses should not be a revenue source for the state. Liquor licenses should be available free to anyone who wants to open a bar. Existing businesses fear competition and want to maintain high drink prices. The cap on liquor licenses is anti-free market and capitalism. Liquor license laws prevent chains like Applebee's and Chili's from moving into the county. There is no reason at all why any business should be charged for a liquor license, other than the state wanting more revenue!

  10. Wildwood - A Lower Twp. spouter remarked, "Your spout highlights the basic problem; public sector employees think they are "special." The fact is that what I am seeing in this and other spouts is jealousy. If this spouter and the others think that government jobs are so great, why don't they apply for a government job? Although they might deny it, most of them would rather work in the private sector because government jobs tend to be difficult, thankless, poorly paid and otherwise unappealing. If their private sector jobs are so underpaid and miserable, they are free to seek government employment.
