CAPE MAY - Historic Cold Spring Village ushers in the 2014 season with its signature fundraiser, Feasting on History. The annual restaurant gala is one of the most anticipated social events of the season and a great way to commemorate New Jersey’s 350th Birthday this year. The 14th Annual Restaurant Gala will be held at the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum at the Cape May Airport May 6 at 6 p.m. Over 45 of Cape May County’s favorite restaurants, wineries, and breweries, generously donate popular foods, signature dishes, wine, craft beers and desserts. Last year, nearly 800 guests enjoyed a night of food, music and networking while celebrating the mission of Historic Cold Spring Village. The presenting sponsor of Feasting on History is Sturdy Savings Bank. Additional support has been provided by the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, Gaiss’ Market, Ford Scott & Associates Certified Public Accountants, and the Dog Friendly Billmae Cottage.

Feasting on History not only supports the Village and its mission of historic preservation, history education and heritage tourism, it also offers guests the opportunity to celebrate their favorite restaurants and dining experiences in the company of friends and colleagues. Eateries such as Union Park, Island Grill and Back Bay Bistro, and wineries and breweries including Cape May Winery and Tuckahoe Brewing Company, will once again return to this appetizing event. New in 2014, the gala will feature a “Best of Feasting on History” contest, giving guests the chance to vote for their favorite dishes, desserts and drinks. This year’s event will also feature the first Feasting on History Silent Auction, where guests can bid on sports memorabilia, artwork, vacations, special event tickets and much more!

Tickets to Feasting on History are $75 per person, or $700 for a table of ten. Seating will only be reserved for groups of ten guests. For all other guests there will be open seating. Advanced ticket sales only. Proceeds benefit Historic Cold Spring Village and help support the museum’s educational programming and outreach. For tickets or sponsorship information, please contact Kate Devaney at (609) 898-2300, ext. 18 or by e-mail at kdevaney@hcsv.org.

Historic Cold Spring Village is a non-profit, open air living history museum that portrays the daily life of a rural South Jersey community of the Early American era. Its mission includes the preservation of 26 historic Cape May County buildings, history education and promoting heritage tourism. The Village is a museum for all seasons. During the summer months, interpreters and artisans in period clothing preserve the trades, crafts and heritage of “the age of homespun.” From October to May, the emphasis is on teaching history through school trips to the Village, classroom visits by the education department and interactive teleconferences with schools throughout the United States. The Village is located on Route 9, three miles north of Victorian Cape May and a mile and a half west of the southern end of the Garden State Parkway. For more information, call (609) 898-2300, ext. 10 or visit the Village website at www.hcsv.org.
