Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company #1 invites the public to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the department on Sat., Oct. 13 with a full day of festivities in Stone Harbor. The day’s festivities will include a parade throughout Stone Harbor, a formal ceremony and outdoor celebration all between Noon and 6 p.m.

The Fire Department’s Festivities will begin at noon with a parade starting at 80th and Second Avenue. The Parade will continue up Second Avenue to 123rd Street and back down 1st Avenue from 111th Street and ending at 95th Street and the beach. The parade will include various Fire Trucks and the Irish Pipe Brigade. At the Conclusion of the Parade, approximately 1 p.m., there will be a formal ceremony and “Housing of the Ladder” acknowledging the Anniversary on the 100 Block of 96th Street with the Mayor, Borough Council and Fire Officials speaking. Fire Officials past and present will also be in attendance.

At 2 p.m. the Fire Department Celebration will begin with a full party at the Stone Harbor Fire House. Join the department and their families while they celebrate their Anniversary at the Stone Harbor Fire House on 96th street from 2 to 6 p.m. Various Fire Vehicles will be on display and the celebration will include a beer garden open for purchases during the event.

Stone Harbor Fire Department’s 100th Anniversary T-shirts are now available for sale by contacting Captain Scheeler at shfd@stone-harbor.nj.us. This limited edition design on a navy blue shirt is available in Youth Sizes for $15 and Adult Sizes for $20.

The Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Department #1 was incorporated Dec. 5, 1912. The Department is not only responsible for aiding Stone Harbor and the surrounding communities in Fire and Rescue support but is one of the leading community groups on the Seven Mile Island supporting the Borough of Stone Harbor, Animal Alliance of Cape May County among others.
