It will be a grand night for singing on Fri., Nov. 30, when Grammy nominated Ernie Haase and Signature Sound quartet brings its Christmas show to the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township.
In addition to presenting its highlight holiday concert , the gospel group will bring to the stage more than 80 local singers to join with them in singing special holiday selections. The augmented cast includes 30 adults chosen from throughout the county and under the direction of Nancy Robinson, the choir directror of the First United Methodist Church of Court House. Also in the group will be 50 third, fourth and fifth graders from elementary school 2 in Middle Township.
Kay Aspell, managing director of The P:AC, said the singers were added upon request of Haase who wanted to give singers here an opportunity to perform with the professional group.
The gospel group last appeared at The PAC two years ago and received such enthusiastic response that it was decided to bring it back for a holiday performance,, Aspell said.
Haase founded Signature Sound in 2003 and it soon became one of the most influential forces in southern gospel music. Its first DVD soared to the top of Billboard Magazine’s Music Video Chart and achieved gold sales status. In 2008 the quartet won the Gospel Music Association Dove Award and two years later was nominated for a Grammy in the category of best southern, country or bluegrass album. Its seven Gospel Music Association nominations include one for the prestigious Group of the Year.
The quarter presents 100 concert s a year in North America and abroad and in addition tpo H aase consists of Devin McGlannery, Doug Anderson and Paul Harkey, a newcomer to the group.,Harkey replaces Ian Owens who has gone onto other professional and personal interests.
“With their energy and originality, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound has established a large following among the young and the elder, and the group will offer a rare opportunity for those in New Jersey to see and hear this nationally honored quartet,” said Aspell.
