The Cape May Lighthouse is just one of the 11 participating New Jersey land-based lighthouses, two museums and two life-saving stations participating in the Lighthouse Challenge of NJ weekend on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, the proceeds of which help preserve local maritime history. Begin the Challenge at any of the participating sites, purchase a souvenir ($1), which will be proof of and commemorate your visit, and visit all participating sites over the two days. More information and hours of operation for each lighthouse are found at participating lighthouse and museum websites and at www.lighthousechallengenj.org, www.njlhs.org, and www.visitnj.org. See the Lighthouse Challenge of NJ Facebook page where you can communicate with other lighthouse fans.
