Are your child’s cooking skills limited to a microwave? Do you wish they could prepare simple and healthy foods for themselves and the family? The Family & Community Health Sciences Department of Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County is pleased to offer a new and creative program, Junior Chefs Cooking Workshop, Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for 6 - 8 graders.

Join us to learn new skills, be creative, taste test and have fun! Kids will learn to prepare a variety of foods including snacks. This is a pilot project that will incorporate nutrition education with hands-on food preparation lessons to encourage a lifetime of healthy eating habits. We are looking forward to exciting mornings of cooking fun!

This program is presented by Marilou Rochford, MA, CFLE, Family & Community Health Sciences Educator, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, Mary Maguire and Linda Spengler of Ocean City School District. It will be held at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Building located at 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House. (Turn at the light at ACCC, it is the first building on the right). The building is handicap accessible.

The cost is $40 and registration and payment are requested by October 10, 2012 to reserve a place. To register or for more information, please call (609) 465-5115 ext. 609 or e-mail mcourtney@co.cape-may.nj.us.
