Linda Gentille & The Jersey Shore Pops will host a food drive during their upcoming holiday concert Joy to the World starring Jacklyn Buckingham at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. In cooperation with the Middle Township PAC, the orchestra will have bins set up to collect canned and packaged goods to be distributed to various food pantry locations in Cape May County. Concert goers are asked to bring 1 can or one packaged good to donate to those who lost their homes in Hurricane Sandy.
Kay Aspell, managing director of the PAC suggested to conductor of the orchestra Linda Gentille that some form of donation for this concert would be a wonderful gesture for the community. Aspell continues, “So many people in our county were affected by this hurricane and this upcoming holiday concert is the perfect opportunity for our patrons who were not affected considerably to show their concern for their neighbors.”
Suggested food donations include: Jars of peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, cans of nuts and seeds, nutritional granola bars and other healthy nutritional snacks. They are discouraging breakable items such as cookies and crackers as well as high sugar content items. For any questions about the food donations, please call the PAC at 609 463-1924.
