The spirit of giving continues throughout the holiday season at Cape May Stages Robert Shackleton Playhouse. This December, Cape May Stage is offering patrons discounts on theatre tickets to the hilarious holiday production of A Tuna Christmas in exchange for donated food items for the Community Food Closet of Cape May, which serves families in need in Cape May. Last season, patron generosity was overwhelming and we are thrilled to be hosting a food drive again this season, said Alicia Grasso, Cape May Stages marketing director. The Community Food Closet does an outstanding job providing food and support to Cape May families and were honored to participate in their efforts.
Now through Dec. 30, patrons can bring three non-perishable items to the box office and get a $10 discount off regular admission prices to see the holiday comedy, A Tuna Christmas. The Food Closet is specifically requesting laundry detergent, small jars of jelly, small cans of soup, peanut butter, coffee, toilet paper, small boxes of cereal, and boxed pasta. The Equity theatre company asks that each individual bring a minimum of three non-perishable items or more to the box office to receive a $10 discount per ticket. Simply show up at the box office with your food items and pay for your ticket at the door. Visa/MC/Discover accepted. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis and are pending availability. Advance reservations are not available. In these tough times, we all want to do our small part to help those in need, continues Grasso. We encourage the entire community to join us as we make a positive impact on those who need it.
A Tuna Christmas runs Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at 405 Lafayette Street in downtown Cape May. Tickets are $35 adults, $30 seniors (62+), and $15 students. The show runs for two hours with intermission.
