GABLES of Cape May County, New Jersey, announces Cape May's Sixth Annual Diversity Weekend with Bait & Swish: Trolling for More, a night of comedy and illusion from America's most "Out There" performers. The show will be Saturday April 6, 2013 at Marq's Pub, 501 Beach Avenue, Cape May, NJ. Comedienne Poppy Champlin will host the two-hour show but not before starting the evening with her special brand of comic thunder. Champlin is a powerful performer who glides effortlessly between practiced patter and off-the-cuff insightful improvisations. Poppy's experience with classic standup and improv, gives her a double-barreled flexibility on stage. In addition to her Showtime special Pride, Champlin has been seen on The Joan Rivers show, Oprah and Entertainment Tonight. She has opened for such comic giants as Dennis Leary, Rosie O'Donnell and Bill Maher. Diving into the realms of mentalism and magic will be award-winning illusionist Eric Walton. Walton, who has performed his conjuring act worldwide, promises to dazzle his Cape May audience with razor-sharp wit and mind-blowing stage craft. Walton most recently performed with the famed Cirque Du Soleil and continues to receive praise from international media, including the New York Times which calls his one-man show "impressive." Headlining Bait & Swish: Trolling for More will be Los Angeles comic Thai Rivera, whose appearances on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham and The Logo Network's One Night Stand Up has made him a fixture and a force on the Los Angeles comedy scene. Having performed at the Hollywood Improv and the Laugh Factory, Rivera is eager to bring his edgy and disarming style of California comedy to the Jersey Shore. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with show starting at 8:00 p.m. Cash bar and menu available. Come early to order dinner. Food Service stops when show starts. Admission is $30.00. Seating is limited, reservations are required. Admission also includes an after-party until 1:00 a.m. Links for reservations and ticket purchase can be found on the GABLES website www.gablescapemay.com or by phoning GABLES at 609-861-1848.
